59 more OFWs from Syria coming home
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday that 59 more Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Syria would be coming home to the Philippines Tuesday night.
In a statement, the DFA said 28 repatriates would be arriving in Manila at 10:10 p.m. on Emirates Airlines flight EK 334.
The statement said a 12-year-old boy, who sought help from the Philippine Embassy in Damascus so that he could “continue his studies” in the Philippines, was among the 28.
Meanwhile, 31 OFWs were set to arrive at 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday on Emirates flight EK 332.
Syria has been under crisis alert level 4 since December 2011. As of June 18, a total of 1,643 Filipinos have been repatriated from Syria.
