BOTOLAN, Philippines – Two South Koreans are missing and feared dead after being swept away by a rain-swollen river in the Philippines after their boat capsized, police said Wednesday.
The incident happened as the boat crossed the Bucao river northwest of Manila on Sunday night, provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Francisco Santiago said.
“They are still unsighted. We have been searching for two days already. The probability is they are dead since they have not yet turned up yet,” he said.
Two co-workers of the men, who worked at a quarry in Botolan town north of Manila, were able to swim safely to shore.
