Filipinos, English CPAs ink pact

MANILA, Philippines—The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (Icaew), a world leader in accountancy and finance, and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to work more closely together.

The agreement was signed on May 31 by Icaew president Clive Parritt and Picpa president Josefina Chua at the China Britain Business Council office at the British Centre in Beijing, China.

The MOU represents a commitment from the two bodies to develop talent, share knowledge and advance the accountancy profession in the Philippines and the region.

Icaew supports over 136,000 chartered accountants around the world. It is a founder member of the Global Accounting Alliance, which represents around 775,000 of the world’s leading professional accountants in over 165 countries around the globe.

Picpa is an association of over 23,000 Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in the Philippines with 89 chapters. It is a member of the Asean Federation of Accountants, Confederation of Accountants in the Pacific and Asia, and the International Federation of Accountants.
