Indonesian woman with shabu nabbed at NAIA 3

MANILA, Philippines—The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) police unit has turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) an Indonesian national who was caught Sunday carrying 3.73 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Terminal 3.

The MIAA media and public affairs office identified the suspected drug mule as Francesca Jovian, of Jakarta.

Jovian, 53, was a passenger of Cebu Pacific flight 5J 111 from Hong Kong. She was arrested by the MIAA police at 1:15 p.m. shortly after the Manila carrier’s arrival at NAIA Terminal 3.

The illegal drugs were reportedly found in Jovian’s hand-carried bag.

Lieutenant Demetrio Sison, head of the MIAA police intelligence and investigation division, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer the PDEA “automatically handles all drug-related cases” at all four NAIA terminals.
