OFWs warned on ‘visa runs’

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine officials have warned Filipino workers in Thailand against using the travel document issued by the Philippine Consulate General for “visa runs.”

Visa run means leaving Thailand before the allowed period of stay runs out and coming back to extend the period of stay.

Consul General Edgar Badajos issued the warning through an advisory posted at the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok on Thursday.

In the advisory, Badajos cited an increase in the number of Filipinos applying for travel documents.

“(The travel document) cannot be used for doing a visa run,” Badajos said.
