360,777 local, overseas jobs up for grabs Tuesday–DOLE

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz

Thousands of jobless Filipinos might get lucky today as the  Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) stages job and livelihood fairs across the country.

A total of 360,777 employment opportunities, offered by 1,706 employers, are awaiting qualified Filipinos, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said.

Of this figure, more than 74,300 are being made available by 1,085 employers in the country while the rest are opportunities overseas.

The employers are looking for cooks, food attendants, sales engineers, bakers, pastry chefs, office clerks, sales consultants, graphic artists, brand specialists, waiters and waitresses, receptionists, cashiers, dishwashers, kitchen helpers, front desk officers, IT personnel and logistics assistants.

The job fairs, held in 51 venues nationwide, also have opportunities for HR assistants, secretaries, encoders, warehouse checkers, sales staff, production workers, inventory clerks, utility workers, counter baggers, technicians and mechanics, among others.

Applicants may even get hired on the spot, said Baldoz. But she was quick to add that job seekers who might not get hired immediately must not worry because the processing of their applications would continue after the daylong event.

“Selecting job applicants can be a tough challenge for employers. They may need more time to review job applications to go over details of their credentials and to interview candidates,” the labor chief said.

Baldoz added that time “invested in careful hiring procedures saves time and helps lessen incompatible job placements, which in the long run, will contribute to the goal of providing decent and productive work for all.”

World Trade Center

In Metro Manila, the job fair will be held at World Trade Center in Pasay City, where more than 97,800 jobs are open.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region, applicants can proceed to Baguio Convention Center where 18,293 job vacancies await them.

In Central Visayas, at least 122,750 job vacancies will be offered in various job fair sites: at Abellana National School, Abellana Sports Complex and Cebu International Convention Center, University of San Carlos South Compound in Cebu City; Panfil B. Frasco Sports Complex-Kai Gym in Liloan, Cebu; Balamban Municipal Hall in Cebu and BQ Mall in Tagbilaran City.

Records from DOLE also show that over 8,900 jobs are available in the Ilocos Region; 2,276 in Cagayan Valley; 10,000 in Central Luzon; 11,055 in Calabarzon; 80 in Mimaropa; 3,991 in the Bicol Region; 5,371 in Western Visayas; 396 in Eastern Visayas; 15,407, in the Zamboanga Peninsula; 4,500 in Northern Mindanao; 21,057 in  Davao; 13,767 in Soccsksargen; and 25,000 in Caraga.

“So, my advice to applicants is to be optimistic and be a little patient because there will be enough job vacancies and livelihood opportunities for everyone at the job fairs,” said

Baldoz.
