MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City government announced that it will implement a partial lockdown starting Saturday, Oct. 24, ahead of the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Leaders’ Summit in November.
In an advisory, the local government said it would temporarily ban public activities, events, fun runs, and other outdoor gatherings around the Philippine International Convention Center along Roxas Boulevard and other affected areas from Oct. 24 to Nov. 20.
“This aims to ensure proper traffic management, security, and public safety,” it said.
In a memorandum dated Oct. 19, the Asean Summit National Organizing Council said the partial lockdown aims to make way for preparations for the 49th Asean Summit and Related Meetings on Nov. 15 to 17.

The partial lockdown would allow authorities to implement traffic management and rerouting arrangements and regulate the partial suspension of gatherings and activities that may hinder or disrupt the summit.
The high-level meeting is expected to gather leaders from the 11 Asean member states and other global partners.
“We ask for your understanding and patience to ensure the successful launch of the Asean Summit in the Philippines,” the Pasay government said. /mcm
