MANILA, Philippines —  First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos joined United States First Lady Melania Trump and the spouses of other world leaders at the “Fostering the Future Together” luncheon in New York City.

“Fostering the Future Together” is a global coalition of first spouses and leaders launched by Trump that focuses on empowering children through technology and education.

In a social media post, Araneta-Marcos said she was “happy” to join fellow first ladies at the luncheon on Sept. 22, who she said all share the same hope and care for children.

“No matter where we come from, we all share the same hope for our children — that they are given every opportunity to learn, grow and thrive, while staying safe and protected in an increasingly digital world,” the post read.

She thanked Trump, also referred to by the acronym FLOTUS, or First Lady of the United States, for bringing them together “for a cause so close to every parent’s heart.”

“Here’s to building a safer, brighter and more hopeful future for all children — especially our young Filipino youth who have fallen victim to all these creepy websites,” Araneta-Marcos said.

The US currently hosts the high-level general debate for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly from Sept. 22 to September 28 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. skipped the event but was present in the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women also in New York in March. /das
