Board member dies in US

TACLOBAN CITY—Leyte Board Member Roque Tiu died on April 12 after he suffered a heart attack while on vacation in the United States. He was 62.

Tiu was entertaining guests at the house of his sister-in-law in California when he fell ill and had to be brought by ambulance to a hospital where he died of cardiac arrest.

Tiu’s remains would be brought home on April 21, said Eugene Tan, the board member’s cousin. There is no date for his burial yet.

Tiu, a Liberal Party member, was mayor of Tanauan for nine years before he won as board member in the 2010 elections. Joey Gabieta, Inquirer Visayas
