American shot dead in Rizal robbery

LUCENA CITY — A 35-year-old American national was shot dead by suspected robbers in Teresa, Rizal, on Friday evening, July 10, police said.
In a report, the Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO-4A) said the victim, identified only by the alias “Ray,” was found dead along a roadside in Barangay San Roque at around 6 p.m. He sustained gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was walking when two suspects riding a black Honda motorcycle approached and declared a holdup.

Police said the victim allegedly resisted the robbery, prompting the suspects to initially flee. Moments later, however, they returned to the scene.
The back rider got off the motorcycle and allegedly shot the victim twice, hitting him in the shoulder and head. He died at the scene.
The gunman then took the victim’s personal belongings before fleeing with his accomplice on the motorcycle.
Authorities withheld additional information about the victim.
According to the police report, the motorcycle driver was wearing a black helmet, a blue raincoat, blue pants, and slippers. The gunman was described as wearing a gray helmet, a black raincoat, gray-and-black pants, and slippers.
Police have launched a follow-up investigation to identify and arrest the suspects behind the fatal robbery. /das
