Marcos to Vietnamese businesses: PH ‘premier destination’ for investment

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday positioned the Philippines as a “premier destination” for Vietnamese investors during the Vietnam–Philippines Business Forum, held as part of Vietnamese President Tô Lâm’s state visit.
In his speech, Marcos said his administration is committed to further strengthening trade and investment relations with its fellow Southeast Asian country.

He highlighted that the Philippines is advancing reforms to become a more competitive and attractive destination for foreign investors, including the Create More Act, the Amended Foreign Investments Act, the Amended Retail Trade Liberalization Act, and the Green Lanes for Strategic Investments initiative.
“Our message to the region is clear: The Philippines is positioning itself as a premier destination for smart, sustainable manufacturing and high-value services. We are open to partnership, ready for investment, and eager to work with you in creating new opportunities for growth,” Marcos said.
Vietnam was the Philippines’ 11th largest trading partner in 2025, with total bilateral trade reaching $7.17 billion.
Earlier, the Philippines and Vietnam signed agreements that expand cooperation in maritime security, trade, digital transformation, and education. /das
