Congresswoman Speier to Host 6th Job Hunters Boot Camp

SAN MATEO, California—Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) will host a free Job Hunters Boot Camp with focus on recent college graduates, veterans and mature workers on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the College of San Mateo. This is Speier’s 6th Job Hunters Boot Camp since January 2010 and over 3,000 job seekers have attended.

“I will continue to host these boot camps until they are no longer needed,” Speier said. “Looking for work is a full-time job and can be extremely frustrating if you aren’t rewarded with landing a job. In this highly competitive job market, we give people the tools they need to present themselves professionally and receive attention from companies that are hiring.”

About 20 local companies will have tables and human resources staff at the event. Employer panels will provide information on exactly what companies are looking for. A variety of in-depth workshops will include “Strategies for the Mature Job Seeker,” “Rethinking the Brand Called YOU,” “Veterans: Embracing Transition” and “Entrepreneurship: Is it Time to Start Your Own Business.” Please see the attached program for a complete list of employers, workshops and employer panels.
