MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has started deportation proceedings against a Japanese fugitive wanted for illegal recruitment and trafficking of Filipina nightclub entertainers to his country.
BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said Teruaki Nasu, 61, who is now at the BI jail in Bicutan in Taguig City following his arrest last March 8 in San Pedro, Laguna, by immigration agents.
David said he ordered Nasu’s arrest at the request of the Japanese embassy. He said the Japanese embassy also informed them of his activities in the country.
Records showed that Nasu is facing a case of violation of Japan’s immigration and refugee recognition law and forging of public documents before the Omiya summary court in Saitama prefecture. The court issued a warrant for his arrest on August 10 last year.
Lawyer Ma. Antonette Mangrobang, BI acting intelligence chief, said Nasu was accused of using a non-profit organization, which he chaired, as a front in recruiting the Filipinas to work at a nightclub in Gyoda owned by a certain Yoshimasa Matsuoka.
Nasu’s organization purportedly helps Filipinos who are children of Japanese nationals to travel to Japan and file lawsuits and claims for damages against their parents.
But Nasu allegedly used the organization as a front to recruit the Filipinas, helping the latter to enter Japan as tourists and employing them without work visas.
Nasu has been hiding in the country since November 27 last year.
