MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are receiving substantial information from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) regarding the whereabouts of resigned Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co, Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said on Tuesday.

Clavano made the pronouncement after Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla disclosed that Co is believed to be in Portugal.

“Yes, we have,” Clavano said in an interview with dzMM when asked if they received substantial tips from OFWs.“We also receive information, which is probably why Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced yesterday that Mr. Zaldy Co is in Portugal, so more or less, that is credible,” he added.

Clavano likewise called on the public to coordinate with the Office of the Ombudsman or law enforcement agencies if they happen to have information on the whereabouts of the former lawmaker.

Co is wanted by the government for alleged graft and malversation in connection with a P289.5-million road dike project in Oriental Mindoro.

Remulla previously said the International Criminal Police Organization had already issued a blue notice for the former lawmaker, and that a red notice could be issued next. /das
