More fun to shop at Duty Free Philippines

MANILA, Philippines—Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) vacationing in the country may soon have their exit clearances processed while shopping at Duty Free Philippines (DFP) in Parañaque City.

Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) Administrator Hans Cacdac on Saturday said his agency had set up a Labor Assistance Center (LAC) satellite office in the Duty Free building in Parañaque to process the overseas employment certificates (OEC) of OFWs while they shopped.

“The Labor Assistance Center at Duty Free is having a test run until the end of March. It will start regular operations soon after,” Cacdac said.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz hailed the setting up of the LAC unit at Duty Free Philippines.

She said this would help many OFWs, most of whom were usually pressed for time, get some requirements done along with their shopping.

OFWs are required to present their OECs at the airport prior to leaving to return to their jobs abroad.
