No Filipinos harmed by Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean – DFA

MANILA, Philippines — No Filipinos were injured or killed following the impact of Hurricane Melissa, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The DFA, in a statement on Wednesday, said it is continuously monitoring the impact of the hurricane through the Philippine embassy in Washington D.C. and the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Kingston, Jamaica.
“As of 29 October 2025 — 5:00 a.m. Philippine time, no casualties or injuries among Filipino nationals have been reported,” said the DFA.
The agency emphasized that they are constantly and actively monitoring the condition of around 500 Filipinos living in Jamaica.
The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. earlier advised Filipinos in the Caribbean along the path of Hurricane Melissa to “undertake all necessary preparations.
Meanwhile, the hurricane made landfall in southwestern Jamaica as a Category 5 storm with 185 miles-per-hour winds on October 28. /apl
