4 PNP officers to attend UN training on gender-based crime
MANILA, Philippines — Four members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be attending a training that will enhance knowledge and skills on sexual and gender-based crimes, a spokesman for the Philippine National Police said Thursday.
The training will be conducted by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO), Chief Superintendent Agrimero A. Cruz said.
The UNDPKO will hold the Training of Trainers (TOT) for Asian Region on United Nations police standardized training curriculum on investigating and preventing “sexual and gender-based violence” (SGBV) from June 20 to July 1 at the PNP training service in Camp Crame Quezon City.
Cruz quoted UNDPKO as saying that the TOT would be interactive and would require participants to practice their knowledge on various subjects because they would be preparing set-of-training sessions on SGBV in their respective countries.
The training will be attended by 20 international and local participants, Cruz said.
PNP Chief Director General Raul Bacalzo will attend the opening ceremony while Justice Secretary Leila de Lima will lead PNP officials in the closing, he added.
The PNP will shoulder the expenses for its own participants, Cruz said.
