PhilSA warns of possible debris from Chinese rocket

MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) on Tuesday confirmed the launch of a Long March 7A rocket from China and warned of possible debris falling in waters off northern Luzon.

PhilSA said the rocket lifted off from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan province around 10 a.m. Philippine time.

It identified projected drop zones in maritime areas in Cagayan: roughly 107 kilometers (58 nautical miles) from Dalupiri Island, 170 km (92 nautical miles) from Camiguin Norte and 146 km (79 nautical miles) from Santa Ana. Another possible drop zone was 68 km (37 nautical miles) from Burgos in Ilocos Norte.
