Gwen gets list of candidates for next province police chief

The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) yesterday submitted to Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia a list of candidates for the next director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

Chief Supt. Ager Ontog, chief of PRO-7, handed the list that came from Camp Crame to Garcia in a visit at the Capitol.

The names included Senior Supt. Edward Esperat Carranza, Senior Supt. Mariano Natuel Jr. and Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr, who is the current acting chief of the CPPO.

Comendador, who accompanied Ontog during the visit, is the governor’s personal preference based on her earlier statements.

Comendador said he discussed with her the matter of the CPPO’s electric bills. The power connection at CPPO was cut twice this year by the Visayan Electric Cooperative due to unpaid bills.

Comendador said the issue has been threshed out but would leave it to the governor to explain the matter. Comendador said the Capitol will turn over two police vans once a permanent CPPO chief is named./CORRESPONDENT CARMEL LOISE MATUS
