Marcos to Filipinos in Japan: Gov’t will find ways to improve your lives

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday vowed to Filipinos in Japan that the Philippine government will continue to find ways to improve their lives.

Speaking with the Filipino community in Osaka, Marcos recognized the role of Filipinos, especially youths, in strengthening the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan.

“Through you, we continue to write new pages in the history of the relations between our two countries. Through you, the spirit of friendship with our Japanese friends continues to thrive. We have every chance, through you, to build even stronger connections and shared values for a mutually stable, secure, and prosperous relationship between our two countries,” Marcos said.

“This is why I hope you will join me and the Philippine nation in helping our community here in Japan to grow even more in love with the Philippines, to learn and embrace fully your Filipino identity, and to support our nation’s aspirations for unity, for peace, and for prosperity,” he added.

Meanwhile, the President said the government has been conducting ways to ensure the safety of the Filipino community, especially OFWs, from different countries.

He mentioned OFW lounges that the government provided in airports for the OFWs’ comfort, saying, “We hope that your arrival and departure in our country will be proper.”

The President also said that his administration has been intensifying coordination with different countries to form a bilateral labor agreement with the aim of ensuring the security of the Filipino workers.

“I recognize the weight of your sacrifice and the strength that it takes to provide for your families from afar. And that is why we will never tire of honoring you and finding ways to improve your lives,” Marcos said.

“You are at the heart of our government’s efforts, and you deserve not only our gratitude, but you deserve our full support,” he added.

Aside from meeting the Filipino community, Marcos has been in Japan since Thursday to attend the World Expo 2025 and hold business meetings. /mr
