Ateneo is still top PH university in 2025 THE Impact Rankings

MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo de Manila University  (ADMU) is still the top Philippine university based on its progress in implementing sustainable development goals (SDG), according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025.

The 2025 Impact Rankings ranked 2,526 universities from 130 countries based on their commitment towards the United Nations’ SDG.

Ateneo landed in the 101-200 band, rising from the 201-300 bracket in last year’s ranking.

It also ranked 101-200 in the following: SDG 1 (no poverty); SDG 3 (good health and well-being); SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities); SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production); SDG 13 (climate action); and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).

The THE also noted that “universities in East and South-east Asia are improving rapidly when it comes to their contributions towards sustainable development.”

Further, 120 other Philippine universities made it to the latest rankings, from only 56 last year.

The Philippines also ranked the highest in Southeast Asia.

Three other local universities placed second in the country and landed in the 401-600 bracket:

  • University of the Philippines
  • Isabela State University
  • Batangas State University 

 

The following schools ranked third in the country within the 601-800 bracket:

  • Caraga State University – Ampayon Campus
  • Ifugao State University
  • Leyte Normal University
  • Mariano Marcos State University
  • Saint Louis University
  • University of Santo Tomas

 

Other higher education institutions in the country that made it within the 801-1000 bracket are:

  • Benguet State University
  • Bukidnon State University
  • Central Bicol State University of Agriculture
  • Central Luzon State University
  • De La Salle University
  • Kalinga State University
  • Mapua University
  • Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology
  • Mountain Province State Polytechnic College
  • Southern Luzon State University

 

THE Impact Rankings 2025’ overall top 10 schools are:

1st: Western Sydney University

2nd: University of Manchester

3rd: Kyungpook National University

4th: Griffith University and University of Tasmania

6th: Arizona State University (Tempe) and Queen’s University

8th: University of Alberta
