MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte has left for Malaysia on a personal trip with her family, said the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Tuesday.
Duterte’s trip takes place ahead of her impeachment trial before the Senate, which is expected to convene as an impeachment court on June 11.

“Vice President Sara Duterte is travelling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on a personal trip with her family,” the OVP said in an advisory.
Her office, however, refused to give details on when exactly Duterte left the country.
The OVP said Duterte is also scheduled to attend the Independence Day celebration in Kuala Lumpur on June 12 and is set to engage in a consultation program with overseas Filipino workers during her trip.
Apart from being in the middle of her impeachment trial, the vice president’s Malaysia trip comes less than a month after she traveled to the Netherlands for her birthday celebration in May. /apl
