Filipino helper killed in Milan burglary – PH consulate

MANILA, Philippines — A 61-year-old Filipino helper in Italy lost his life in a tragic burglary incident on Saturday night, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan disclosed on Monday.
In a statement, the Consulate General extended its condolences to the family of the victim.
“Based on news reports, our kababayan appeared to have been strangled to death by the suspect who broke into the apartment of the victim’s employer near Parco Sempione,” the statement read.
“The suspect was arrested by police at the scene of the crime,” it added.
The Consulate said it would reach out to the next of kin of the deceased and extend any assistance it could.
It likewise appealed to the Filipino community in Milan, asking them to pray for the eternal repose of the 61-year-old Filipino.

Inquirer.net has requested that the Department of Foreign Affairs give additional details on the case, specifically asking if the remains of the deceased will be repatriated to the Philippines, but it has yet to respond as of writing.
