MANILA, Philippines — The BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) vessel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has completed its three-country port visit mission with its port call in Vietnam from Monday (April 14) to Thursday (April 17).
This development was shared by PCG on Saturday, in which it described the final stop in Vietnam as a “culmination of a historic regional engagement” after earlier visits to Thailand and Malaysia.

“Throughout the three-day port visit, the PCG and Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) deepened bilateral cooperation through a series of meaningful activities including courtesy calls, professional exchanges, ship tours, people-to-people engagements, and preparatory meetings for operational collaboration,” PCG said in a statement.
PCG said that the VCG held a farewell ceremony to send BRP Gabriela Silang off as it sails back to the Philippines.
The PCG and the VCG also conducted a joint at-sea exercise on search and rescue and firefighting after the vessel’s departure.
“The port visit to Vietnam also underscored the PCG’s active role in advancing regional collaboration under the ASEAN [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] Coast Guard Forum (ACF) and its continuing efforts to promote interoperability, mutual understanding, and maritime security across Southeast Asia,” the PCG added.

The PCG also underscored that the visit is a reaffirmation of PCG and VCG’s alliance, following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation in January 2024 and VCG Ship CSB 8002’s visit to Manila in August 2024.
