PH reelected VP of United Nations Tourism General Assembly

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has been reelected as the vice president of the 26th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) Tourism, as well as chair of the Commission for East Asia and the Pacific, said the Department of Tourism (DOT).
According to the DOT, the Philippines was first elected to both positions in 2023.

In a recent statement, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco expressed her gratitude to the other member nations of the UN Tourism General Assembly for their confidence in the Philippines as well as its sustainable tourism development agenda.
“We accept this renewed mandate with humility and an even stronger resolve and commitment to regional cooperation and collaboration,” Frasco said.
Meanwhile, Japan and Fiji have submitted their candidacies as Vice-Chairs of the Commission for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP).
Laos, on the other hand, has been nominated as a member of the Credentials Committee.
For the specialized committees, the Republic of Korea has been nominated for the Committee on Tourism Online Education.
