OFW with rape charges, Interpol red notice deported to PH from UAE

MANILA, Philippines — A 56-year-old Filipino man, who worked as an electrician assistant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and was the subject of an International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) red notice, has been deported to the Philippines.
In a statement on Tuesday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the man had a P160,000 bounty on his head, based on a 2023 Interior Department memorandum.
Authorities arrested the suspect upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday afternoon, the NCRPO added.

He faces three counts of rape charges as well as two counts of lascivious conduct and six counts of acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act No. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The charges were filed before the Regional Trial Court Branch 5 in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan province, the police added.
The NCRPO further detailed that the repatriation was coordinated between the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime (PCTC) and the UAE National Central Bureau.

The police did not detail when the Interpol red notice was issued nor when UAE authorities arrested the suspect.
In a separate statement also on Tuesday, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as Arnold Abril.
He is under the custody of the QCPD District Intelligence Division, police added.
