DFA confirms second Filipino fatality from Myanmar quake

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Thursday morning the identification of the remains of a second Filipino fatality from the powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake that jolted Myanmar.
In a statement, the DFA said the information was relayed by the Philippine Embassy in Yangon.
“The family of the deceased Filipino has been informed. They have requested media to respect their privacy in this very difficult time,” said the DFA.
“Out of respect for the wishes of the family, the Department is unable to provide any further details,” it added.
The DFA on Wednesday confirmed the identification of the first Filipino casualty.
Two more Filipinos remain unaccounted for as of posting time.
The powerful earthquake rocked central Myanmar on March 28.
