More gripes from husbands of OFWs

/ 12:33 AM March 04, 2012

Nestor of Ilocos came to Radyo Inquirer to complain about his wife who has been working in Hong Kong (HK) for six years. He wanted his wife to return home immediately. He requested us for assistance in repatriating her.

Nestor’s complaint: “Nagbubuhay dalaga na po ang misis ko doon. Nakikipagrelasyon pa siya doon kung kani-kanino (My wife is living the life of a single women there. She is having affairs).”

Bantay OCW called up Nestor’s wife in HK to get her side. The wife sobbed and said her husband was constantly accusing her of  having an affair  with her male employer. The overseas Filipino worker (OFW) denied his charges, pointing out that  her employer was already 80 years old.

She added that her husband was jobless and if she returned, the family would have no means of living; their children might have to stop studying.

The OFW also intimated that she left the Philippines to escape from Nestor, who aside from being lazy and jobless, was also a brutal husband.

We didn’t comment anymore when we heard the wife’s response. Our OFWs also have personal reasons for working  overseas.

He had supported his wife’s decision to work in Saudi Arabia. However, after a month of her working there, he heard that his wife was raped by her Arab employer and she had run away. She ran through the desert for several hours until she hit a road was able to flag down a truck. Luckily, Filipinos were on board the truck and they guided her to the Philippine Embassy. They all pitched in for her taxi fare.

Oscar’s wife  was able to return to the country. He is truly commendable for showing his wife how much he loves her. Oscar said on-the-air that he was ready to help his wife forget all the terrible experiences she encountered overseas because she was only a victim in Saudi. Oscar is indeed a good husband to our OFW.
