MANILA, Philippines — A retired United States (US) Navy serviceman was arrested by Quezon City police for allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash along Commonwealth Avenue.

According to a statement from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the suspect was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) when it hit the rear of a stopped van on Tuesday afternoon.

Fairview Police Station personnel responded, but the SUV moved back and forth again to hit the rear of the stopped van another time, the report added.

It also said that the impact of the second collision sent the van crashing into the rear of a sedan and another van that was parked.

The SUV then moved back toward a gas station and collided into a pump island with a bollard, the police said in a statement.

Police took custody of the suspect, identified as Edgardo Binoya, 68.

He awaits charges for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, the QCPD said.

It added that no physical injuries were reported.
