NBI arrests 12 Chinese in Ayala Alabang raids

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday said it had arrested 12 Chinese nationals for illegal possession of firearms after conducting search operations at an upscale neighborhood in Muntinlupa City.

Agents of the NBI-National Capital Region searched three locations at Ayala Alabang Village on warrants issued by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court.

The NBI team was assisted by barangay officials and security personnel, as well as representatives of the Ayala Alabang Village Association.

Guns, vests, knives

At the first house, the agents found five handguns with magazines and ammunition. Four more pistols were recovered in the second location, along with two taser guns, three bulletproof vests, tactical knives, a kitchen knife, handcuffs, and several IDs belonging to Chinese nationals.

At the third target area, they found another pistol with a magazine and ammo, tactical gear, and more ID cards.

Two vehicles listed in the search warrants were found and confiscated.

The NBI did not release the names of 12 Chinese arrested nationals, but the eight IDs confiscated bore the following names: Wan Yi, Wang Zenghui, Liu Yichun, Zhou Chenchen, Zhang Yu, Xiu Zhang, Zhang Qi Ja and Wang Weibin. —Gillian Villanueva
