MANILA, Philippines — An assessment team from the Philippine embassy in Myanmar is now on its way to Mandalay to help search for the four missing Filipinos following a deadly quake.
This was confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to INQUIRER.net in a text message on Monday.
“A Yangon [Philippine embassy] assessment team is enroute Mandalay today, based on Post’s update,” Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Teresita Daza said.
INQUIRER.net has asked the DFA for more details regarding the matter, but it has yet to respond as of press time.
The DFA earlier said four Filipinos in Myanmar remain unaccounted for after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake rocked central Myanmar on Friday, damaging buildings and forcing people to flee into the streets in neighboring Thailand.
Among the missing Filipinos are a husband and wife who lived in a building that collapsed after the tremor.
