Water pump donation by Cellboy CEO Alvin Chu Teng brings clean water and hope to Marillac Hills girls

In a heartfelt celebration of compassion and purpose, Alvin Chu Teng, CEO of Cellboy and President of the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila, marked his birthday last March 20, 2025, not with a lavish party—but with a meaningful act of service.

Held at Marillac Hills in Muntinlupa, the event saw the official turnover of a newly installed water pump system, a donation spearheaded by Teng to improve the daily lives of the girls residing in the shelter. Marillac Hills is a government-run facility providing temporary shelter, protection, and psycho-social intervention for abused girls and minors in conflict with the law.

The donation comes at a critical time, addressing one of the most basic and essential needs—access to clean and safe drinking water. For many of the young residents at Marillac Hills, this means better health, improved hygiene, and a restored sense of dignity.

“This is more than just a birthday celebration for me,” Teng shared during the event. “This is about giving back and making sure these young women know they are not forgotten—that there are people who care deeply about their future.”

The simple yet meaningful turnover program included a short presentation and heartfelt messages from the girls, who expressed their gratitude through performances and personal reflections. Their joy was evident, knowing that the water pump would bring a long-term solution to a persistent problem in the shelter.

Joining Mr. Teng were his mother, wife, and members of his growing circle of partners in service, including the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan, Cellboy Cares, Guerrero Brotherhood, Manila Emperor Pasada Eagles Club (where he also serves as President), and the Association of Volunteer Fire Chiefs and Fire Fighters of the Philippines Inc.

This initiative highlights Teng’s continued commitment to community service, a value he attributes to the example set by his own family. Known not only as a tech executive but also as a passionate philanthropist, Teng has been consistently involved in outreach activities, especially those focused on supporting underprivileged children.

As the new water system begins to serve the needs of the girls at Marillac Hills, it also stands as a symbol of what’s possible when business leaders use their platforms for good. More than just a donation, it is a gift of hope, health, and humanity—the kind of impact that outlives any birthday candle.
