Alleged mastermind in 2018 murder of Subic trader nabbed in Malaysia
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga, Philippines — The suspected mastermind behind the murder of the president of Subic Freeport-based United Auctioneers, Inc. (UAI) was arrested in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, on March 22.
The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) disclosed this on Thursday, March 27.
In a statement, PRO3 said the Royal Malaysia Police arrested Alan Dennis Sytin, the third most wanted person in Central Luzon, at the Cobra Rugby Club.
“Sytin, who carried a P10-million bounty on his head, was the alleged mastermind behind the 2018 murder of his brother, Dominic Sytin, the president and founder of United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI),” the regional police said.
It added that the arrest was made possible through international law enforcement cooperation.
PRO3 stated that Dominic was shot dead in front of a hotel in Subic Freeport Zone on November 28, 2018.
“Gunman Edgardo Luib, who was arrested and convicted, confessed that Alan Dennis Lim Sytin orchestrated the killing. His accomplice, Edrian T. Rementilla (alias Ryan Rementilla/Oliver Fuentes), who acted as the middleman, was separately arrested in Iligan City on March 22, 2025, in a joint operation by PRO3 and PRO10,” it said.
PRO3 added that the repatriation process was underway to bring the suspect back to the Philippines to face legal proceedings.
