MANILA, Philippines — A second hearing in the Senate on former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest remains uncertain, Sen. Imee Marcos said on Thursday.
In a press conference, Marcos said the Senate panel on foreign relations which she heads is presently looking for credible witnesses that could help and strengthen their probe.
“As we speak, we are not certain if we will continue and whether there will be a second hearing because we need to find good and credible witnesses,” she told reporters.

“We are still looking for them and if it will not push through, then we will just study what was revealed a week ago,” she added.
In the same press conference, the senator presented the preliminary findings of her committee, saying that they found evidence proving that glaring violations took place during the former president’s arrest.
The lady senator had been vocal about her dismay following the incident. This, alone, led her to ditching her brother President Bongbong Marcos’ senatorial slate Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Duterte was arrested on March 11 by the power of a warrant from the International Criminal Court. He was charged with crimes against humanity for the bloody drug war he orchestrated when he was still in power.
