Malabon sets Guinness World record for longest line of bowl of noodles

MANILA, Philippines — Malabon City has set a new Guinness World Record for holding the longest line of bowl of noodles, the city government announced.

The city featured 6,549 bowls of its staple and specialty dish, Pancit Malabon, surpassing China’s 2019 record of 3,988 bowls.

“Opisyal nang kinilala ang ating Lungsod ng Guinness World Records para sa Longest line of Bowls of Noodles— isang makasaysayang tagumpay na nagpapakita ng ating mayamang kultura at pagmamalaki sa Iconic Pancit Malabon!” Malabon City Government in a statement.

It was Ms. Sonia Ushirogochi, official adjudicator of Guinness World Records Japan K.K, who announced the city’s feat on Friday. She also regarded Pancit Malabon as a “classic and important dish of Malabon City”.

“Ngunit hindi dito nagtatapos ang hamon— kinakailangan ding tiyakin at idokumento ang maayos na distribusyon ng 6,000 mangkok ng Pancit Malabon para sa aktwal na pagkonsumo ng tao, alinsunod sa patakaran ng Guinness World Records,” the local government unit added.

(But the challenge does not end here— we need to ensure that we document and properly distribute the 6,000 bowls of Pancit Malabon for actual consumption, in line with the rules of Guinness World Records.)

Malabueños participated in the event, where they meticulously prepared the bowls of Pancit Malabon. They had to weigh the bowls, and properly place them on long tables to make both ends of lines meet.
