“Kung merong arrest warrant against him, pwede siyang ilagay sa Interpol watchlist para matulungan tayo ng ibang agencies to repatriate and ibalik siya sa Pilipinas,” said Sandoval.
(If there is an arrest warrant against him, he can be placed on the Interpol watchlist so that other agencies can help us repatriate and return him to the Philippines.)
“…‘Yung mga court issued warrant, ‘yan po ang pwedeng ipasok sa Interpol para maibalik siya dito,” she added.
(Court-issued warrants are needed to allow the Interpol to bring him back here.)
Roque is currently facing human trafficking complaints before the DOJ over his alleged “active participation” in the illegal operations of Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos) in Porac, Pampanga.
The said complaints, however, are still at the preliminary investigation stage before the DOJ’s prosecutors.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla likewise stated that a warrant of arrest must first be issued by a court for it to initiate proceedings that would cancel Roque’s passport,
“I don’t think that we want to violate anybody’s right to travel. But when the case is filed, then everything else will follow,” said Remulla in a Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum.
Prior to this appearance in the Netherlands, Roque has also been in hiding due to an arrest order from the House of Representatives Quad Committee which cited him for contempt and ordered to be detained due to his failure to submit documents that would supposedly justify his sudden increased wealth.
