Remains of OFW arrive from Hong Kong

The remains of a 34-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was found dead in Hong Kong early this month were repatriated over the weekend.

The body of Rowena Gomez, of Antipolo City, was found floating off the coast of Shau Kei Wan, a town on the eastern side of Hong Kong, on February 5.

Her remains arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Philippine Airlines flight PR 301. Her parents, Mario and Lucia Gomez, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration officials met the remains.

The OWWA said the results of the autopsy conducted by the Hong Kong police on Gomez had not been released.

The Philippine government earlier said it was coordinating with investigators in Hong Kong to determine the cause of  death.

Gomez’s father said  his daughter sent him a text message in January telling him she had a problem, but she did not elaborate. Tina G. Santos
