Koreans running illegal gambling hub arrested

MANILA, Philippines — Four Koreans allegedly operating an illegal online gambling hub in Porac, Pampanga, have been arrested by authorities, the National Bureau of Investigation said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the NBI said it raided a condominium unit in Barangay Santa Cruz last month based on information it was operating as an online gambling hub without a license from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.

Kim Min-ha, Kim Hae-su, Kim Min-suu and Jang Jin were arrested and charged with illegal online gambling under Presidential Decree No. 1602 in relation to Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The NBI later discovered that Kim Min-ha and Kim Hae-su were wanted for fraud by the Korean government. —Gillian Villanueva
