MANILA, Philippines – A Korean national was arrested for human trafficking operations in Pampanga, said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday.
According to the NBI, the suspect, Shin Ki Jung, was recruiting women to work at a club in Angeles City.
“Further inquiries indicated that the victims would serve as models and provide entertainment for potential customers, particularly foreign nationals, and would be available for hotel check-ins,” the NBI said in a statement.
Shin recruited the victims after he promised the women work in Korea without proper documentation.

Prior to the arrest, one of the victims reported the employment of a minor at the said club. Illegal activity was then confirmed after videos and photos of the club were sent to the NBI.
In the rescue operation, 12 victims, including five minors were relieved.
Shin and his cohorts were then arrested for violating the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 and the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Keith Irish Margareth Clores, INQUIRER.net trainee
