4 Chinese nationals arrested for selling counterfeit footwear

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested four Chinese nationals and seized counterfeit footwear worth P75 million from three warehouses in Meycauayan City, Bulacan last February 26, according to the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
In a report on Sunday, CIDG identified the four suspects as Weibin, Zhenpan, Youding, and Wang of Elite Globus Prime Holdings Corporation.
They were arrested during simultaneous raids in three warehouses pursuant to a search warrant for allegedly violating Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
The three warehouses yielded P29.69 million, P27.7 million, and P18 million.
Other pieces of evidence confiscated from the warehouses were business receipts, computer sets, a digital video recorder, and a web mill printer.
The suspects are facing complaints for violating Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of RA 8293.
