Boost in PH, Malaysia tourism seen after successful GTBA roadshow

Travel and tourism stakeholders are eager to see the industry flourish following the successful run of the B2B Global Travel Exchange and Roadshow, organized by the Global Tourism Business Association (GTBA) and co-presented by Tourism Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on February 20,2025.

The event brought together more than 200 delegates from the Philippines, Malaysia, and other participating countries. Guests of honor include Malay, Aklan mayor Frolibar Bautista, Philippine Embassy  to Malaysia Consul General Roussel R. Reyes, Tourism Malaysia Deputy Director General Mr. Lee Thai Hung, Director International Promotions Southeast Asia Mdm Salinda Sany, Petronas Director Commercial, Tourism Malaysia Manila Deputy Director Rohana Dahalan and Business Department Mdm Nor Rieza Bujang, DTI Director Mr. Aleem Siguiapal, Turkey Embassy Counsellor Mustafa Korkutata, and other dignitaries. This is the second international roadshow mounted by GTBA following last year’s edition in Brunei. 

“We take our role in promoting Philippine destinations and global tourism in general very seriously… We believe in the importance of global collaboration, transfer of knowledge, and building sustainable and meaningful networks among peers from across the world,” GTBA President Michelle Taylan said. 

According to Taylan, GTBA is actively engaged in boosting tourism among ASEAN countries. The group has hosted various events and partnership exploration tours in Vietnam and Brunei.

“Like anything, there is always room for improvement, especially with the Philippine government’s push to boost halal tourism and promote Philippines as a Muslim-friendly destination,” Taylan said. 

Meanwhile, partner organizations and government offices have welcomed GTBA’s initiatives in boosting tourism across the region. 

After the successful run of the 6th B2B Global Travel Exchange and Roadshow, GTBA will hold its 7th B2B Travel Exchange and Roadshow in Cebu on July 3,2025 and the third Travel Sale Expo on September 26 to 28, 2025 at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall. The event, which has the theme: Your Gateway To The World, will feature around 200 exhibitors from the airline, hotels, tours, and cruises sector, with dropdown deals and big discounts waiting for participants.
