Marcos seeks stronger ties with Palestine, Sweden, Egypt, and Slovenia

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday expressed hope to forge stronger ties with the governments of Palestine, Sweden, Egypt, and Slovenia.

Marcos made the statement during the presentation of the credentials of the four countries’ new ambassadors at Malacañan Palace.

In their meeting, Slovenian Ambassador-designate Smiljana Knez said, “Slovenia is a strong advocate of international law and the rules-based international order.”

The Slovenian ambassador told Marcos that she “will work tirelessly and cooperate closely” with the government, business community, and cultural and scientific communities.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Ambassador-designate Mounir Y.K. Anastas conveyed the Palestinian government’s commitment to continued partnership with the Philippines.

“We can work towards a future where peace, mutual understanding, and prosperity prevail. Let us continue to stand united in the pursuit of justice and equality not only for nations but for all humanity. May peace and solidarity guide our path forward,” Anastas said.

Furthermore, Marcos told Swedish Ambassador-designate Anna Ferry, “You come in a particularly auspicious time when the development of relations between our two countries has grown significantly.”

Egyptian Ambassador-designate Nader Nabil Zaki, on the other hand, said that Cairo is committed to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing trade and investments, and promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
