MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has begun talks to expand job opportunities and protection for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in 10 countries.

During the Global Labor Market Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Friday DMW Undersecretary Patricia Yvonne Caunan met with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Finland, the Bahamas, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Libya to discuss employment possibilities.

“They all expressed their interest in our Filipino skilled workers,” Caunan said in a statement. She said the representatives expressed interest in hiring Filipinos in the health-care industry, hospitality and construction, and other sectors. —Jacob Lazaro
