PETALING JAYA, Malaysia — A popular gaming streamer from China surprised thousands of her fans when she turned up in person to receive an award, looking somewhat different from the profile picture she uses.

You Chong, received the Top 12 Most Popular Streamer Award from the creators of QQ Speed, an online racing game.

Known for her engaging content and clear explanation of her racing technique, the gamer-turned-influencer has a substantial fan base.

Her fans were delighted to see their favorite streamer honored but they were in for a surprise during the award ceremony in Taicang, Jiangsu province, China, on Jan 19.

You Chong, whose name means “young pet”, delivered a brief speech, thanking the organizers.

Silence fell over the venue when she concluded her speech, with both live and online audiences stunned by her appearance.
