MANILA, Philippines — US naval intelligence officials made a “strategic visit” to the Philippines last week to bolster bilateral cooperation in the face of “persistent threats” to freedom of navigation in the region.

The Indo-Pacific Command (Indopacom), in a statement on Thursday, said Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Steve Parode and US Assistant Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Sandra Brown visited the Philippines and met with officials on Jan. 14.
