MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Harry Roque and his wife Mylah Roque personally appeared before the Philippine embassy in Abu Dhabi on November 29, adding that the two were able to present valid passports and “appear to be staying in UAE legally.”
“The Philippine embassy in Abu Dhabi extended consular services to Mr. and Mrs. Roque, as required for documents executed abroad for use in the Philippines,” said the DFA in a statement.
According to the DFA, Roque and his wife availed of consular services — particularly notarial services, adding that these do not require a prior appointment.
The DFA’s statement came after the Bureau of Immigration’s pronouncement that Roque likely left the country through illegal means.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said that verification with their records show that Roque has no recent attempt to depart the country via formal channels.
Viado said that his legal team is already studying filing more cases against Roque for his supposed illegal travel.
Roque has an outstanding arrest order from the House of Representatives after being cited for contempt and ordered detained due to his failure to submit documents that would justify the alleged sudden increase in his wealth.
