MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. believed that the relationship between the Philippines and the United States would not change under the leadership of US President-elect Donald Trump.

“I don’t think it will change,” Marcos said on the sidelines of Seatrade Cruise Asia 2024 on Monday evening.

He also noted that Washington is the Philippines’ oldest treaty partner.

“That hasn’t changed… I will have to see if there’s a major change,” he said.

Meanwhile, in an interview earlier the day, economic czar Frederick Go also said that the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) project is expected to continue under the fresh administration of Trump.

“Well, that’s what the trilateral partners are telling us,” the presidential adviser on investments and economic affairs told reporters.

Go also revealed that other countries expressed interests in joining the LEC project.
