Chinese nabbed, 7 Vietnamese rescued in Pasay human trafficking bust

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man was arrested, while seven Vietnamese were rescued from a suspected human trafficking operation in Pasay City on Tuesday, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

In a statement on Wednesday, NCRPO said it responded to a report from a concerned citizen detailing how several Vietnamese women were allegedly being exploited for prostitution by a suspect identified as Zhao Xing.

Police revealed that the suspect reportedly “caters” to Philippine offshore gaming operators and purportedly exploits the victim both online and physically.

NCRPO said its operatives in the Southern Police District responded to the report, which led to the rescue of the victims and apprehension of the suspect along Barangay 86 at around 8 a.m.

The arrested individual is now under police custody and will face complaints for violating the Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
