Remulla leads PH delegation to Timor-Leste

MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, and Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III will serve as the country’s caretakers while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is in Lao People’s Democratic Republic or Laos, the Palace said on Tuesday.

According to Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez, the President will attend the 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and related summits in Laos from October 8 to 11.

Among the key issues Marcos is expected to raise at the summit are human trafficking in Southeast Asia and issues on the West Philippine Sea, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu said in a press briefing on Oct. 4.

Marcos and the Asean leaders are also scheduled to sign a treaty of amity and cooperation with the foreign ministry of Luxembourg.

Marcos is also set to meet the 400-member Filipino community in Laos.
