MANILA, Philippines — An alleged Filipino child trafficker earlier arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was repatriated on Thursday.
Teddy Jay Mejia is accused of abusing and exploiting 111 female minors, Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. said in a press briefing.
He faces charges of qualified trafficking, statutory rape, and violation of Republic Act No. 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act.
The suspect targeted young victims, some of whom he raped, recording the incidents, which he then sold online.
